Glazed Whitework Lesson
Learn how to use a coloring technique inspired by traditional painters to create beautiful painterly 3-dimensional effects, using watercolors and colored pencils.
Create rich, deep coloring
• Work on a project inspired by traditional painters
Glazing is a technique that is commonly used by traditional painters to apply thin layers of diluted paint over canvas, to achieve rich, deep coloring.
• Learn the unique Whitework technique
Using only watercolors and colored pencils, you'll learn my unique technique of creating Glazed Whitework, where layers of coloring chisel and gradually sculpt the drawing.
• Re-purpose your older work
I have so many drawings that never worked out well, or weren't finished. Now you can re-purpose those pictures to create exquisitely artistic pieces.
• Learn to layer colors
The reason why paintings look so complex and deep is the use of many layers. Learn how to create that same effect using easily accessible media such as watercolors and colored pencils.
• And so many tips and tricks!
Every lesson is packed with tips that can help you with ALL of your projects and make you a better artist.
WHY THIS LESSON IS IMPORTANT!
One plus one is more than two
In this lesson, you'll understand why a painting looks so much more complex than the average drawing. Learn how the combined effect of two different media is much more than just the sum of its parts. Layering different types of media -- even different types of colored pencils -- can create effects that are much richer and more dimensional than using only one type of paint. As a secondary lesson, learn how traditional painting techniques can be adapted to the more accessible paints and pencils readily available in your toolbox".
